Q - What does a Move Manager do?
A - Take Care Move Assistance assists their clients to get through the seemingly monumental task of moving their place of residence. We work closely with the client to;
- Downsize, by sorting through your closets, cupboards, pantries and garages to reduce clutter and determine what possessions can fit into your new environment
- We will assist you in determining the best actions to take for dispersal of the furnishings and possessions that will not fit
- We then assist you in arranging for the movers, disconnecting your electronics; TVs, computers, stereo systems, and packing everything up securely for the transport to your place of residence
- We oversee the movers on moving day
- We unpack everything and even set up your electronics
Q - Are you a mover? Do you move your clients?
A - Take Care does not transport the clients furnishings. We assist the client in obtaining and interviewing qualified licensed and insured movers for transport of the furnishings.
Q - Will Take Care supervise the movers?
A - YES! We will be onsite on moving day to see that your possessions are loaded carefully and we will meet them at the new residence to assure all positions are unloaded carefully and placed in their proper locations as we begin to set up your new residence.
Q - How do you handle dispersal of the furnishings and possessions that will not fit?
A - There are many ways. We can simply have a “tag” or moving sale. We can send things to be auctioned. You could choose to donate some things to charities. You might also want to give items to family and friends. We help you manage all of this.
Q - Must you be a senior to use your services?
A - We’ll serve anyone. If you have physical limitations or you’re just too busy to do it yourself, this service is a smart way to prepare for your move.
Q - Can you help find senior housing options?
A - We can put you in contact with Senior Placement Advisors who are familiar with Portland senior housing options. There are numerous, eldercare, independent living, assisted living, continuing care retirement community, and Alzheimer’s care retirement homes in this region and the Senior Placement Advisors are well versed in finding the best senior housing option for your needs.
Q - What do you mean when you say; navigate through the moving process via consultation, oversight and action?
A - Take Care will assist and guide you by doing the following;
- Consult with you to determine your needs and goals
- Provide oversight by supervising the movers and any other folks hired for your transition
- Take action by developing a schedule, lining up additional services as needed and provide follow-up to assure all commitments are met so the client isn’t forced to manage the folks hired for the transition
Q - How does Take Care handle long distance moves beyond the Portland area.
A - We can help clients prepare for the move out of the Portland area and we can try to coordinate a similar Move Management service in the receiving location depending if those services are available in the new location. Conversely we can assist folks moving into the Portland area from out of the area.

Q - Why use senior move management?
A- Take Care understands the special requirements involved with moving seniors in retirement communities and senior housing environments. Our everyday job is packing and moving seniors. Regular movers, while sympathetic to seniors, are usually in a rush. This hurried atmosphere can be overwhelming to some folks. While we are efficient at packing for a move, we also are looking out for our client’s well being and we schedule our packing and unpacking in a more relaxed pace to suit each individuals needs.
Q – Do you sell moving boxes?
A-Yes! Like many Portland area movers we can sell moving boxes to you. When you hire us to pack you for local moves we let you “borrow” our boxes at no cost provided we are able to get them back from you after the move. In cases where we can not reclaim our boxes such as long distance moves outside of the Portland metro area, we can supply all the necessary moving boxes at competitive pricing.
